In contrast to previous new year’s resolutions of impressive accomplishments and lofty goals, I wanted 2017 to be marked by a balanced rhythm of everyday life. More than feeling productive, I wanted to look back on this year and feel peaceful.
Instead of taking a spring break family trip, we moved into our own space and vacation money turned into rent. Instead of filling up my schedule with library storytimes and play dates, I pursued intentional relationships and rest. Instead of starting grad school, I focused on being present with my children.
Carpe diem looks different in every season. In this season, it looks like quiet days of happiness with my family, treasuring all the moments that are so quick to pass me by.
